We’re looking for Norfolk’s best young creative writers – is it you?

Has the colourful dinosaur trail in Norwich and Norfolk caught your eye and stirred your imagination this summer?

We’re running a roar-some GoGoDiscover competition in conjunction with the trail, and we’re looking for the best young creative writers in Norfolk to take part.

If you’ve been inspired by all the T.Rex, Mammoth and Breakasaurus characters that are on display, and you love nothing more than getting creative with words and making up stories then this competition is for you!

Know a budding young writer? Children are being invited to write a story about the adventures of Eye-Don’t-Think-He-Saurus, Tabitha the Tree-Rex and Dissy the Dissosaurus this summer.

Write a t-riffic dinosaur story this summer and you could WIN some roar-some prizes.

To enter, simply:

Visit and take a closer look at our three Dipple & Conway Breakasaurus sculptures, which you can spot in the children’s library in the Millennium Library, Norwich. Or, see their photo here!’

Look deep into your imagination to dream up a brilliantly creative story using these three dinosaurs as inspiration.

Scribble down your short dinosaur-themed story (maximum 500 words) and write a tale that any young reader would love to sink their teeth into.

There are three age categories, with prizes for the winner of each.

6 and under
7-10 years
11-16 years

Prizes!

Fantastic book bundles and book vouchers for the winner of each age category!

Prizes kindly donated by Bookbugs and Dragon Tales, independent bookstore in Norwich.

What are we looking for?

  • A story which brings the three Dipple & Conway Breakasaurus dinosaurs to life and features these three sculptures as the main characters
  • You can re-name them if you like, but they must be connected in some way
  • Your story should have a clear beginning, middle and end
  • Be a maximum of 500 words (it can be much shorter if you prefer)
  • Be packed with interesting words and expressive writing
  • Your own original, incredible ideas
  • Written by hand or on a computer. We can also accept stories recorded as audio clips.
  • Colourful illustrations - add them if you like – but this is totally optional
  • Most importantly – have fun letting your imagination run wild!

Send your stories to…

Dipple & Conway Opticians, 19 Castle Street, Norwich, Norfolk, NR2 1PB or by email info@dippleconway.co.uk – add ‘GoGoDiscover story’ to the subject.

Include your full name, age, and contact details for a parent or guardian.

This competition will become extinct on 12th September 2022 (that’s the closing date!)

We’ll have our reading glasses ready and waiting!

Dipple & Conway Opticians are proud sponsors of the GoGoDiscover Learning and Community Programme for 2022

As a long-term supporter of Break and their fantastically colourful art trails, we are very proud to be the lead sponsor of this year’s GoGoDiscover Learning and Community Programme.

This wonderful project has seen more than 100 schools and community groups get involved, by painting and decorating a Breakasaurus sculpture. The Breakasaurus sculptures will be on display in the city this summer too, alongside the main GoGoDiscover trail.

Will you spot them all?

Thank you to …

Our three Breakasaurus sculptures, sitting proudly in the children’s library, were beautifully decorated for Dipple & Conway Opticians by three Norfolk schools.

A tyrannosaurus sized thank you goes out to the talented children and staff at the following schools. Thank you for painting them. We hope you agree, they look amazing.
