We’re taking part in the Visit Norwich Christmas Crown Trail this festive season and would love for you to stop by and spot our crown.
Norwich is a beautiful and vibrant historic city, especially at Christmastime. Our home city comes alive with twinkling lights and the gentle welcoming hubbub of shoppers and visitors out on the streets; something we love to see as people pass by our Castle Street practice.
This year Visit Norwich, in partnership with Norfolk Museums Service, is encouraging everyone to soak in the special seasonal sights of Norwich even more, as they launch four specially created Christmas walking trails. As a family-run opticians with more than 100 years of history here in Norwich, we didn’t think twice about getting involved.
It takes place from 16 November through to 5 January, and will see shops, restaurants, hotels, and iconic historic buildings hide magical, festive, sparkling crowns in their windows and shop fronts for
people to spot.
The story behind the trails is a very historic and royal one.
Did you know that in 1121 King Henry I held his Christmas court at Norwich Castle? Can you imagine how magical those festivities were? The feast, the majestic robes, the music, and entertainment?
To remember and help celebrate the 900 year anniversary of this important historic event, we’re absolutely delighted to join in and support the Visit Norwich Christmas Crown Trail.
The Visit Norwich Christmas Crown Trail features four mini walking routes, each one designed to take you to places you might never have been and enjoy the hidden gems of our historical city. There is a red, gold, green and purple route. We’re on the purple trail; taking you on a journey from Norwich Castle to the ever-popular Tunnel of Light, returning to the city outside The Forum again this year.
The four walking trails are Christmas quests for all ages. As you meander the streets, look out for crowns of all shapes, sizes and different forms in windows and shop fronts.
Peek through our Norwich Castle Street practice to spot our specially crafted crown.
Clue: Our regal crown sits atop a plush cushion to commemorate the 900-year-old royal celebration.
Thank you to The Flower House who created our celebratory crown. We think it is blooming beautiful and fit for a King!
If you’re stepping out to enjoy the Christmas Crown Trails this festive season, remember to share your photos with us and Visit Norwich too. We’d love to see all the crown creations nestled around our beautiful city. And why not send us a selfie with ours in the shot too?
