SILMO, Paris 22

Ts Eliot once said,  “The chief danger about Paris is that it is such a strong stimulant” and we couldn't agree more, although we like to see it as more of an adventure.

And what an adventure we have just enjoyed, attending SILMO Paris.

Maciek, Hannah and James represented us this year, and enjoyed their time soaking up Parisian vibes, checking out the latest trends and allowing themselves to be inspired.

SILMO has been an exciting event on the eyewear calendar for over 50 years, showcasing optical progress and innovation.

We have been fortunate as a team to attend this historic event several times, and never tire of the creativity and professional opportunities it brings. More than a conventional trade fair, SILMO is a fun and exciting opportunity to meet other optical specialists, brands and technology companies, cementing our own continuous innovation, not just as local opticians but as leaders in our industry.

As the largest and one of the most prestigious optics exhibitions, we were able to catch up with many of the brands we currently stock in our stores, such as:

  • Schnuchel (handmade for D&C in Hamburg)
  • La Font (made in Paris)
  • Pierre (made in France)
  • Lunor (handmade German frames)

We asked Hannah to tell us the best part of her first experience visiting this iconic trade fair;

“For me, it was great to see a lot of the founders and designers in person, it really bought the frames and products we supply daily to life, and allowed us to learn more about the history behind the brands.”

Aside from allowing us the time to network with like minded souls from across the world, SILMO also allows us to keep ahead of the game when it comes to new technologies for our industry and gives us a chance to check out new brands and content.

We ordered lots of new exciting pieces that we can’t wait to share with our clients.

A favourite piece of mine came from an independent range consisting of stainless steel and leather frames (sourced from French cows), along with stone and even stingray scaled frames!”

Whilst at the show, we have selected some amazing additions to bring home to our stores, a mixture of the latest optical trends and modern, classic designs.

You can read all about the SILMO programme right here; SILMO Prog
The team have also ordered new accessories, such as spectacle chains and cords, along with some really unique ready-made reading glasses, that we cannot wait for you to see.

Be sure to pop into your local branch soon, if you would like to try some Parisian chic for size.
