Stephen Fry names us his ‘favourite opticians’ as he wins the Hostry Festival’s Norfolk Icon award

His love for Norfolk is well-documented and reciprocated and we are absolutely delighted to hear that Stephen Fry has been revealed as the winner of the Norfolk Icon Award at the Norfolk Arts Awards, part of the Hostry Festival celebrations. It is an award we are proud to sponsor and support. And we are also extremely pleased to hear that we are Stephen Fry’s favourite opticians!

Each year, the Norfolk Icon Award goes to a prominent figure in the arts, someone who helps to boost the profile of Norfolk. And on October 23rd, when the award ceremony will be streamed live, it will be the turn of actor, comedian, broadcaster, writer and avid Norwich City fan Stephen Fry to take up the mantle from the 2019 winner, Olivia Colman.

On learning the good news, Stephen Fry said;

“Thank you to the PBSK Partnership. My favourite opticians Dipple & Conway for sponsoring this award. And to the Hostry Festival, whose 10th anniversary it is this year. I couldn’t be prouder, I do love Norfolk, and at this particular time the arts couldn’t be more important. How great therefore to see them being encouraged through these awards. Thanks to everybody, and God bless Norfolk.”

Matthew Conway our director says; “Stephen Fry’s love and enthusiasm for our county and for the arts makes him the worthiest of winners. We send Stephen the warmest of congratulations from the entire Dipple & Conway team. We are all very excited to see what the festival brings to Norwich Cathedral and the county later this autumn.”

The Hostry Festival’s full programme of events, including exhibitions, plays, recitals and special guest appearances can be found on their website.
